Steelville Missouri ....
Visit the small town with a big heart.
Steelville, gateway to the Ozarks, lies between St. Louis
and Branson just off Interstate 44 in Crawford County.
Three spring-fed rivers - the Meramec, Huzzah and Courtois
- provide floating, rafting and camping recreation for
thousands of tourists each year. Fishing enthusiasts flock
to streams filled with small- and large-mouthed bass,
trophy trout and rock bass.
The new city park is the site of the Department of Census
marker declaring Steelville the population center of the
United States, 1990-2000.
The city is home to the Meramec Music Theatre, which
features the best of country music as well as special
performances of bluegrass and gospel music.
Quaint specialty shops line the town's main street, which
has been restored to its early 1900s appearance. There,
you will discover wonderful wicker, antique furniture,
collectibles, wood carvings, pottery, quilts and locally
made crafts. Relax at an old-fashioned soda fountain and
dine in one of our many restaurants. Stay at one of our
historic bed & breakfasts, at a lodge that reflects
its 1920's glory, at a modern motel, or at one of the
many resorts that provide camping, cabins and RV hookups.
