Pittsburg, Missouri
Pittsburg Missouri is a small town in Hickory
County which features:
Pomme de Terre State Park: Remnants of a presettlement
savanna landscape with 200-year-old oak trees dot this
park, which lies along the banks of the 7,800-acre Pomme
de Terre Reservoir. The 734-acre park is geared for water
activities, and boats and motors can be rented at the
park marina. Lake Pomme de Terre (French for "potato,"
can be translated "apple of the earth,") has
hundreds of coves where solitude and good catches of muskie,
bass and other fish can be combined. The park has two
public beaches and two campgrounds. In the first weekend
in May comes the Black Powder Rendezvous.
