Lebanon, Missouri...
In 1999, the City of Lebanon, as the
county seat of Laclede County, celebrated with the
county their sesquicentennial anniversary. Lebanon has a
rich historical heritage. From its early beginning, it was
well known as a tourist attraction. Built in the early 1890s,
tourists flocked to the Gasconade Hotel where you
could bathe in the City's magnetic water known for its healing
properties.
Lebanon was first known as Wyota
after the Indians who had once lived here. The name was
later changed to Lebanon in honor of the early
settler's hometown, Lebanon, TN.
Lebanon, Mo., is located in the scenic
Ozarks of south-central Missouri. It is home for
nearly 13,000 residents. The people of the city of Lebanon
have shared the natural beauty of this area with sightseers
and tourists through the years and have managed to maintain
close ties with the land and with one another.
Lebanon is a friendly and progressive
community. The city's increasingly diversified economy
ranks among the top 15 communities statewide in manufacturing
employment. The service sector of the economy is growing,
particularly in the area of health care. Agriculture remains
a cornerstone of the Laclede County economy.
